Great Hang Up: A program aimed at instilling a message of safety in young drivers before they get behind the wheel is gaining momentum in the Sacramento area.
Club Live uses a mix of fun events and serious discussions to emphasize the importance of safe driving habits to local middle school students.
Recent events included a safe driving scavenger hunt at James Rutter Middle School and a lip sync contest between 20 local middle schools at the Crest Theater.
Club Live is an offshoot of the high-school focused California Friday Night Live Program. Featured programs include "Every 15 Minutes" which reenacts the aftermath of a DUI accident.
"I enjoyed being a judge at the lip sync event and have started talking to my 9 year old about who she gets into the car with and safe driving after learning the sooner you start, the better," said News10 reporter and Great Hang Up spokeswoman Melissa Crowley
