SACRAMENTO, CA - Residents of four apartments were without a home after a fire in a four-unit apartment building.
Sacramento Metro firefighters quickly knocked down the flames at 2410 Cava Court, but not before the fire burned into the attic of the building.
"We've learned over the years to check every one of (the units), get into the walls, get in between the units to make sure the fire is out completely," said Battalion Chief Maurice Johnson.
Robyn Rand, who lives in one of the units, came home as soon as she found out about the fire. When she got there, firefighters met her with some bad news.
"I live in the unit that was the point-of-origin," said Rand, visibly shaken. "In my room."
She was not sure how the fire started, but she said with fire, smoke and water damage, her apartment was likely a total loss.
The American Red Cross will assist everyone who was displaced by the fire.
Nobody was injured.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
