SUTTER COUNTY, CA - The former boyfriend of a daughter of a Sutter couple found dead in a 2010 fire at their home has pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
Joseph Simlick was charged with killing Jack and Sue Martin, both 46, in their Mulberry Street home in Sutter on July 30, 2010.

Relatives said at the time that Simlick and the Martins' younger daughter had had a bitter break-up and there was tension between the suspect and the young woman's parents.
Simlick also pleaded to a special circumstance of commission of multiple murders.
Sentencing for Simlick was set for Jan. 18, 2013. According to the Sutter County District Attorney's Office, Simlick faces two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
