They also took into custody a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of being an accessory.
Per their investigation and an anonymous caller tip, police and Yuba County sheriff's deputies sought out and stopped a car on Simpson Lane at 1:33 Wednesday morning believed to be occupied by robbery suspect Carolos Almendariz, said police Operations Commander Christian Sachs. Almendariz was questioned, arrested and booked into Yuba County Jail on two counts of armed robbery and involvement in a criminal street gang.
A female passenger in the car was questioned and released.
Officers executed a search warrant at Almendariz's residence on the 1700 block of Linda Avenue and that is where they encountered the 16 year old who tried to run from officers, Sachs said. The teen was caught with a loaded, concealed firearm, officers reported. He was booked into juvenile hall on accessory and weapon charges.
