SOUTH LAKE TAHOE- Police in South Lake Tahoe are warning residents about a car repair scam after a senior citizen was scammed out of money.

An 89-year-old man was approached by two men in the Safeway parking lot located at 1020 Johnson Blvd.

Police said the men offered to repair a dent in the senior citizen's car for a cash payment of $80 and later additional work for $20.

The senior citizen agreed to have the repair work done and the men followed him to his home.

Police said the men entered the senior citizen's house and did repair work in his garage that was very poor quality.

Officers believe the men were trying to get into the home of senior citizen or just scam him out of money.

The men are described as both Hispanic male adults in their 30's. They were driving a white full size SUV with a rear lift gate type hatch.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is warning residents about the dangers of allowing strangers into their homes and getting repair work done by unlicensed or uninsured repairmen.

Anyone who comes across a similar situation is asked to call Sgt. Shannon Laney at 530-542-6100 at the South Lake Tahoe Police department.
