Man on bike shot in central Stockton

STOCKTON, CA - Stockton police were looking for information on a shooting Monday afternoon that left a 24-year-old bicyclist in critical condition.

According to a Stockton police report, the victim was riding his bike on the vicinity of Third Street and American Street when a person in a car described as a dark-colored Acura or Honda sedan drove up and there was an altercation between the man on the bike and the car's occupant(s) before the gunfire.

The shooter left, the car heading south on American Street, witnesses told responding officers.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by residents. Police said the man underwent surgery.

Witnesses further described the shooter's car as having tinted windows and chrome rims.
