STOCKTON -- Tim White, a Sacramento-based entrepreneur, has launched a new initiative to help boost the moral in the Stockton Community.
He calls his idea "See Our Strength", and it's a grassroots movement dedicated to bringing the California Central Valley together by showing the country their strengths.
"I grew up near Stockton and have lived in Sacramento since 1989," said White.
Most of White's family and friends still live in the area and he says it's hard to repeatedly see the national headlines about how bad Stockton has become. First it was headlines about foreclosures and crime, and now the bankruptcy.
But even with all the negative press the city has received, White has not given up hope.
"If you visit local businesses and schools, you'd see that people are working hard and not giving up," White said..
"See Our Strength" is starting out by raising money to give away t-shirts to local kids. The next step is to get the message on anything people in the Central Valley would want-bumper stickers, key chains and pins. It's all about sending a postive message and reminding people that there is more to Stockton than what you see on the news.
"We can sit around, do nothing and wait for the next negative headline or take a stand," White said.
He says it's time for something positive in Stockton and "See Our Strength" is a way for residents and businesses to show their pride and come together as one.
