Roseville police spokesperson Dee Dee Gunther said Ivo, a Santa Clara Police Dept. K9, was in his handler's backyard in Roseville around 9:00 p.m. when a loud firework went off. Startled by the explosion, Ivo took off, leapt the fence, and sprinted away in the area of Pleasant Grove Blvd. and Fiddyment Rd.

The handler and Roseville Police officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the dog. Members of the Santa Clara Police Dept. were being sent to Roseville on Thursday to assist in search efforts, Gunther said.

Ivo was eventually located around 3:36 p.m. on Thursday. According to Gunther, Ivo was found by a citizen Wednesday night and taken to the Placer SPCA shelter on Thursday, where he was reunited with his handler.
