Sacramento, CA -   Wal-Mart was just one of many retailers to open doors early this morning to shoppers.  The retail giant opened up at 5 a.m. Monday.

December 26th is considered to be the second busiest shopping day of the year.

Major retailers including Best Buy, Target, Kohl's, Wal-Mart, and Home Depot are offering special "day-after-Christmas" discounts.  Consumer researchers say in many cases, shoppers hold out on purchasing the big ticket items until the day after Christmas.  That's because many of the stores are offering clearance prices to try and get rid of their holiday stock.

Shoppers will also be spending gift card money that they received for Christmas.  An estimated $28 billion in gift cards were sold for Christmas in 2011.
