SACRAMENTO, CA - As the city of Sacramento begins a crucial time period to get a new arena built, Kings co-owner Gavin Maloof reiterated getting a deal done is still his top priority.
Speaking to News10 at the team's annual Fanfest, Maloof said, "We want to see this arena get built. That's our number one goal," Maloof said.
"Obviously we have to leave it up to the Mayor (Kevin Johnson). He's working diligently and hard on it and dealing with the NBA."
The NBA has set a March 1st relocation deadline for the city to have a final plan. When asked if that was still a firm deadline or if the date could be flexible, Maloof answered, "let's just enjoy the moment here and we're hopeful something can get done."
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is in New York for a Friday meeting with NBA Commissioner David Stern. News10's Nick Monacelli is in New York to cover the meeting and will have live reports throughout the day Friday on News10.
