SACRAMENTO, CA - An estimated 5,000 fans attended the Sacramento Kings free Fan Fest, according to a Power Balance Pavilion spokesperson.

The Kings hosted an open scrimmage that started at 5:45 p.m.

The free event allowed Kings supporters to reconnect with the team and get their first "in person" glimpse of the team's newest members. Many of the fans said they expect this to be one of the most exciting seasons.

"I might cry, we'll see," Jay Moslehi said.

Moslehi has been an avid fan for about 15 years.

"I mean, it's an emotional season," Moslehi said. "I don't know. They're here now, and I'm happy."

Lines wrapped around the Pavilion inside the concourse area where several players signed autographs, greeted fans and helped staff concession stands while posing for photographs.

New rookie draft selection Jimmer Fredette said he enjoyed playing in front of fans for the first time this season.

"I'm excited that basketball is starting again, and excited about the entire team this year," Fredette said. "You can really tell that everybody thinks we're going to have a great team and hopefully we will."

The Kings also joined in a holiday effort to collect unwrapped toys, books and games on behalf of Sleep Train's Foster Kids Program.

Some fans delivered their contributions during the event. More information about the program is available online
