Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson
SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson will fly to New York Friday to update NBA Commissioner David Stern on the latest efforts to build a new sports and entertainment complex in downtown Sacramento.
Johnson, along with the president of AEG, the company chosen to manage the potential arena, will brief Stern and answer questions regarding the funding of the new arena.
The mayor's press secretary Joaquin McPeek confirmed the meeting.
"Tuesday night's meeting could be pivotal in bringing a new entertainment and sports complex to Sacramento," McPeek said. "The Mayor made a commitment to keep Commissioner Stern updated on the progress and is looking forward to making that update in person."
Friday's meeting in New York will be preceded by a key Sacramento city council vote Tuesday night.
