Armando Flores, arrested after reportedly stabbing a pastor in Stockton, California
STOCKTON, CA - A 44-year-old pastor of a Stockton church was attacked Wednesday night by a man who tried to light him on fire then stabbed him repeatedly.
Stockton police reports stated the pastor was loading items into his vehicle after a church function when Armando Flores, 23, of the San Jose area appeared from the side of the church building, poured liquid on the pastor and tried to ignite the substance with matches.
According to the report, the liquid did not light and the pastor, later identified as Associate Pastor Derrick Satchell of Victory of Praise Church, attempted to hold on to Flores. Flores then pulled a knife and stabbed the pastor in the upper shoulder and neck area, then again in the leg and hand.
Fellow church members came to the aid of satchell and detained Flores until police arrived and took him into custody. He was charged with attempted murder.
Satchell was taken to a nearby hospital and was listed in stable condition.
