ELK GROVE - For Monterey Trail High School special education teacher Cindy Polonsky, teaching is her passion.
"I have always enjoyed working with children. It's been my passion since I was in my late teens," said Polonsky.
Polonsky has been teaching for more than 30 years, seven of them at Monterey Trail. She says it never gets old.
"That's why I find teaching so exciting. We are always moving forward and trying to improve what we are doing. Never feel like our job is done," said Polonsky.
Polonsky's co-workers say she changes the lives of all of her students with her outgoing and caring personality making any student eager to learn.
Others describe her teaching style as exciting and interactive, making her classroom a unique place, where smiles are easy to find.
"She helps me and explains and translates in English with sentences. She supports me here and prepares me for after high school for when I go to college," said student Elias Navarro.
