SACRAMENTO, CA - Interest in firearms is on the rise at local gun stores like Just Guns, following the shooting tragedy in Colorado.
"Many people's first reaction is how do I protect myself," Sacramento's Just Guns employee Josh Deaser said.
Deaser said background checks for gun purchases have not increased.
But in Colorado, background check applications are spiking.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation shows that from Friday to Sunday, a total of 2,887 people were approved to buy firearms, that's a 43 percent increase over the previous Friday through Sunday, when 2,012 background checks were cleared.
