'NBA Live 14', a pro-basketball video game from EA Sports.
Let's face it. EA Sports hasn't had much luck with video game NBA basketball in recent years.
After seeing two would-be pro-basketball titles cancelled in NBA Elite 11 and NBA Live 13, EA Sports' Sean O'Brien says the team is "Excited" about bringing NBA Live 14 to market later this year. The NBA Live team isn't doing it alone, however, as they have help from the FIFA team.
"There are certain elements of when you're creating a sports video game that are relevant to the sport; there are certain elements that are relative to understanding technology and game design," commented O'Brien. "So Gary Patterson, our Senior Creative Director has that experience with FIFA - understanding what momentum means to gameplay, understanding what control means to gameplay, understanding our toolset. He's a very technical designer."
The belief is that Patterson's experience will be pivotal in getting NBA Live 14 to be a "90"-rated title.
"For us, it helps our basketball-specific guys to understand what that benchmark for quality is," he continued. "Understand where we need to focus to bring out those basketball-type features that we want to do with dribbling, with shooting, with passing, rebounding - those core fundimentals. So, his knowledge and experience and expertise is incredible for us."
NBA Live 14 releases later this year as a launch title for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
