PC and PS4 game 'Planetside 2' from Sony Online Entertainment.
Sony Online Entertainment's sci-fi MMO PlanetSide 2 launched as a PC exclusive last November, but its exclusivity on the home computer will end later this year once the PlayStation 4 launches. The game is set to be one of a decent collection of titles to be released alongside the console along with fellow SOE MMO DC Universe Online. Unlike DCOU it's allowance for PS3 and PS4 players to play together, PlanetSide 2 on Sony's next-gen console will not be able to interact in-game with those playing on the already established PC side.
"[PS4 players] are going to be on separate servers right now," stated SOE's Adam Clegg. "PC players will still have their servers that we have up and running right now and then we'll create PlayStation 4 servers for the PlanetSide 2 players."
Although the PC and PS4 versions will be on separate servers, Clegg says the two games will be identical aside from user interface differences due to the PS4 having a gamepad compared to the PC's standard keyboard/mouse input setup.
"We really want players to have the same experience," he divulges. "We don't want the PS4 players to have something different than the PC players."
To that end, Clegg says SOE will push the same content out at the same time for both versions (see update below).
PlanetSide 2 is rated "T for Teen" by the ESRB.
UPDATE: Sony now states that PS4/PC PlanetSide 2 updates "...will push the same content out at around the same time."
