Video game developer/publisher Aksys Games is helping those who were adversely affected by the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Sandy last week.
To raise money towards relief efforts, Aksys is now selling a limited number of VLR watches in the company's new web store. All proceeds from watch sales will be donated directly to the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts fund.
"I've always felt that no matter what, it's important to give back to the community wherever we can, especially during times such as these," explained Akibo Shieh, CEO of Aksys Games. "Whether it's an individual or a small company like us, if we all work together we can make a difference. We hope that our friends on the East Coast recover as quickly as possible."
The company as a whole then stated: "It is our sincerest hope that relief efforts reach and aid those affected by this disaster quickly."
The wristwatch itself is inspired by Aksys Games' 2012 Nintendo 3DS/PlayStation Vita title Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward.
Those wishing to donate directly to the Red Cross without purchasing a VLR watch from Aksys Games can do so on the official Red Cross Disaster Relief website.
