Ümloud!, the Bay Area's biggest annual non-profit gaming fundraiser, has officially announced that video game industry personality Tim Schafer will serve as Master of Ceremonies for its 4th annual event.
Benefiting Child's Play, a gamer-targeted charity that supports children's hospitals around the world, Ümloud! returns to San Francisco's DNA Lounge Thursday, December 6, for an encore engagement of raucous Rock Band 3 performance and 'tis-the-season celebration.
Raising the whammy bar on this year's proceedings, the great Tim Schafer will lead the evening's activities. Celebrated for Psychonauts, beloved for Brütal Legend, feted for Grim Fandango, and founder of San Francisco-based Double Fine Productions, Schafer will lend his signature wit to the festivities, introducing each of the dozens of participating bands that will perform, playing Rock Band 3 set lists and peripherals.
"Everyone knows gamers have big hearts-and that's not just because of the sedentary lives many of us live," says Tim Schafer, President and CEO of Double Fine Productions. "It's because we understand the value of community, of giving back, and Ümloud! is the perfect way to have a rockin' evening while supporting Child Play's noble efforts in taking care of the next generation of gamers."
Additionally, the fundraising race is on, with bands "French KISS" and "Forever Alone, Together" competing to earn the headlining slot by raising the most money. Participating acts will receive entry to Ümloud! for the entire band and ten of their biggest fans.
