Fans of professional ice hockey only need wait until September 11, 2012, to play NHL 13, EA Sports' next iteration of its long-standing NHL video game franchise. Sean Ramjagsingh, the title's gameplay producer, says he can't wait for its release.
"So really excited about NHL 13," Ramjagsingh told News10 Game Guy Barry White. "This will be the biggest year-to-year release for the franchise on this generation of consoles."
The producer backs up the claim by explaining the numerous innovations and new features that will be available within the game. These features include improved AI for non-user-controlled players, a new physics-based skating engine, and a number of interconnectivity options for players both hardcore and casual. NHL 13 will also have a tweaked control scheme with twin analog stick controls where one stick controls the player's upper body and the other his lower. For those players who are unsure as to whether or not they can handle twin stick controls, the developers have implemented an alternate control scheme plucked right out of EA Sports history: NHL 94.
"NHL 94 is a legendary iteration for us and a lot of people enjoy its two-button controls -- its simplistic controls," explained Ramjagsingh.
Rated "E10+" by the ESRB, NHL 13 will be released onto Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
