The Gamers' Choice Awards is presented by KXTV News10, a Gannett Company.
The votes have been cast and tallied in the 2011 Gamers' Choice Awards and the collective voice of the gaming public has been in deciding the winners of Game of the Year and Most Anticipated of 2012.
Below are the winners and runner-ups for each category, complete with each title's percentage of the votes.
Game of the Year:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (49.3%)
Portal 2 (14.5%)
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (14.5%)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (14.2%)
Battlefield 3 (7.5%)
It appears that Bethesda Softwork's RPG epic The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has Thu'umed its way to the top of the list as far as the general gaming public is concerned, beating out Valve's first-person puzzler/platformer Portal 2 and Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception which both tied for second-place on the list. First-person shooters, which typically fare very well in Game of the Year compeitions, took up the rear.
Most Anticipated of 2012:
Mass Effect 3 (56.0%)
Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland (20.1%)
Street Fighter x Tekken (14.2%)
Chainsaw Lollipop (9.7%)
To little surprise, BioWare's Sci-Fi action/RPG Mass Effect 3 is considered by the gaming public to be the most anticipated game for 2012. What is a bit of a surprise is the North American release of Nippon Ichi Software's Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland took second on the list, beating out the upcoming Capcom fighting title Street Fighter x Tekken.
Our thanks go out to all who voted and to the respective publishers and developers of all of the winning video game titles for the above categories.
Yesterday, news10.net's Game Guys posted the winners for the genre awards and earlier today for the winners of the console-specific awards.
