  • UC Davis is expecting many gamers from all over to invade the campus' Freeborn Hall when the venue hosts a fighting video game tournament known as "Dromstruction" on October 22nd & 23rd.

Dromstruction will feature no less than seven games for players to compete in, including: Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition; Marvel vs Capcom 3; Mortal Kombat 9; Tekken 6; BlazBlue Continuum Shift II; Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike.

Jenkins Mitchell, owner of Nerdy Video Game Stuff, is organizing the event.

"This one will be the biggest event I've ever held," said Mitchell.  "The events I've held in the past have had anywhere from 20-60 entrants who came from as far as Reno and San Jose.."

Mitchell says he expects at least 200 participants at the two-day event.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners and products from event sponsors will be handed out to players during the event.   Mitchell expects Dromstruction to offer a $1,000 first place prize for Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Spectators are invited to take part in the event as well as tournament players.  In addition to the video games, Dromstruction will also have various vendor booths and sample products attendees can check out from NEC Displays and NOS Energy.

Dromstruction begins on October 22nd at 10am and runs until ten that night, then picks up again on the 23rd and runs from 10am until 9pm.  Interested players can register on the Dromstruction website.

The event is free to spectators.
