NEW YORK - Legendary Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney is slated to take the mic as lead singer in a Nirvana reunion show at a Superstorm Sandy benefit concert on Wednesday.

According to The Guardian website, former Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters front man, Dave Grohl, invited McCartney to "jam with some mates."

A short while later, McCartney, Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear created a new song and were added to the Madison Square Garden lineup alongside the likes of Jon Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones and Kanye West.

"I didn't really know who they were," McCartney said in the Guardian. "They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said: 'Whoa? You guys haven't played together for all that time?'

"And somebody whispered to me: 'That's Nirvana. You're Kurt.' I couldn't believe it."
