SACRAMENTO, CA Soaring high above Sacramento at nearly 160 m.p.h., area model plane flyers hit the Capitol City skies.
Sunday proved to be a nearly perfect morning for the 7th Annual Trashman Classic Warbird Race. Modelers from Reno to the Bay Area participated in the race Saturday and Sunday.
These model planes weight about eight pounds and can go over 160 m.p.h. There are many different models and can cost anywhere from 600-2000 dollars.
When a flyer crashes they aren't out of the competition. Race organizers say each flyer usually brings a couple of back ups with me to compete during the day.
There are three classes for flyers bronze, silver and gold. Races will be going on through 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Sacramento Area Modelers located at 11000 Florid Road.
