With the quick hashing out of a state budget deal between Gov. Jerry Brown and legislative Democratic leaders, it's as though the conversation came down to someone saying, 'What's $96 billion between friends, right?'

What used to be a fiscal food fight in the state Capitol now has become a mild disagreement, and this year's budget could be the quickest sent to a governor since 1986.

On this week's Capitol Connection podcast, we take a look at the broad themes and some of the more interesting details in the spending plan up for a Friday vote.

Anthony York of the Los Angeles Times and I also circle back to the topic we missed while the podcast skipped a week: the ongoing buzz over an FBI raid under the Capitol dome.
